Saturday 20th of June, 0730 English time. The first start of the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race got away on time. ICAP Leopard led off the line. Sebastien Josse and Ellen MacArthur were next in the Open 60 BT with Performance Yachts 100 Liara third. The breeze has picked up from an initial 5 knots to 8 knots north-westerly. After 8 hours of racing in a mix of weather conditions, from light wind and sunny at the start to 18 knots at the needles, the BT IMOCA 60 crossed the finish line at 15:47:53 and won the IMOCA class ahead Artemis, Sir Robin Knox Jonhson's Grey Power and Steve White's Toe in the Water. "We started in a very light breeze and had a difficult beat to The Needles. Later in the eastern Solent it went light again. Basically we followed the shore all the way round to get out of the tide. We were close in at The Needles, St Catherine Point and Bembridge. It was a challenging, stressing time but a good race." explained Sébastien after the race. The annual JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is one of the most popular fixtures on the Solent racing calendar. Competitors come from Europe and the USA, as well as all over the UK, to follow the 50 miles course round the Isle of Wight. Starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races west about, to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy back into the Solent. Spectators can find many vantage points, both on the mainland and Isle of Wight, to watch the race progress. This year, 1779 boats entered the race. "It's absolutely crazy to see such a fleet on the water, having professional and big boats like Leopard, IDEC... racing again families or old wooden boats is a unique moment and I enjoyed it from the first minute to the end."
The BT IMOCA 60 left her home of Port la Foret yesterday morning and is now on her way to Cowes, Isle of Wight. Sébastien, Jean François Cuzon, his co-skipper and Pierre Emmanuel Herissé, project manager are expect to arrive tonight around 2100 GMT in Cowes. From tomorrow morning, you will be able to see the BT IMOCA 60 in East Cowes at Venture Quays. The team will take the start of Round the Island Race on Saturday at 0730 am. For the first time, Seb's team mate Ellen MacArthur will join him onboard for racing. Don't miss the event and follow the race on our website.
Arrival of the Transmanche race, Sébastien Josse and Jean François Cuzon onboard BT cut the finish line this morning at 8h55m30s, broken so the monohull record by 3 hours, with a race time of 13h 14m and 30s. It's the second consecutive victory of BT this season.
Friday May 29 at 17:00 local time, BT will take the start of the 22nd Transmanche in the Aber Wrac'h (northern Brittany). Sébastien Josse, sailing alongside Jean-François Cuzon, will take part in his second warm-up race of the 2009 season. The 220 mile-long course is very simple, the fleet heading straight for Plymouth (UK) where they will round the breakwater before coming back to the Aber Wrac'h and the finish line. Two IMOCA 60 monohulls are lined-up, BT will have to battle it out with Gaël Le Cléac'h's Brit Air, which cam second in the Vendée Globe skippered by Gaël's brother Armel. The Transmanche course requires constant attention and is famously tricky due to the powerful tidal effects.
At 10.30 in the evening on Saturday, the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe skippers climbed one after the other onto the huge podium erected on the beach for the official prize-giving ceremony for this sixth Vendée Globe. No fewer than 120,000 people turned up for this show that was entirely free and packed with emotion. One final opportunity to applaud the sailors, but also an occasion to look back at this historic race. During the evening, the date of the start of the next Vendée Globe was revealed. It will begin on 21st October 2012. Sébastien Josse: "This race teaches you how important it is to manage and look after your boat."
After 4 days of race in the heart if the bay of Douarnenez, France, Sébastien Josse and the BT team has won the Grand Prix Petit Navire, first event of the season. Winner of the two offshore races on Saturday and Sunday, BT crossed the lines ahead Foncia (Michel desjoyeaux), winner of the last Vendée Globe and Brit Air (Armel le Cleac'h), second in Les Sables d'Olonnes. "It was a great event which allow us to test the speed of the boat during the two first days of speed runs and our tactical and tactic skills on Saturday and Sunday with two offshore races of 30 and 45 nautic miles. I'm really happy of this first event and victory of the season and it was really good to sail with full crew onboard. A big thanks to the race organisation, they did an amazing work."

The BT IMOCA 60 arrived yesterday in Anvers, Belgium after 4 weeks at sea onboard a cargo ship from New Zealand. The BT team is now in Belgium and they are going to put the mast and the keel back this weekend in order to sail to Port La Foret, her new home for the season. The first event of the season is the Grand Prix Petit Navire in Douarnenez from the 30th of April to the 4th of May.
Sébastien spend the easter weekend in La Trinité sur Mer, to take part to France's leading spring regatta, SPI Ouest France-Bouygues Telecom 2009. To celebrate his return to the high seas following the Vendée Globe, he sail onboard much smaller boat than the BT IMOCA Open 60 as he compete in the annual regatta on the Bay of Quiberon on board Open 7.50 sportsboat. Seb was tactician on board Mousquetaires Challenge, skippered by Thomas Rouxel, who is preparing the Solitaire du Figaro. After 12 races in 4 days, and 47 points, the team "Défi Mousquetaires" reached the first place of the podium behind Jean-Pierre Nicol onboard Le Carré and Fred Duthil onboard BBox Bouygues Telecom. One of the traditions from the regatta, since its creation has been the winner of each class receiving their weight in oysters and Muscadet. So this is a rare sailing event where it can pay to be the heaviest crew!
After a long period spent at sea, Sébastien took part last week in the 'Trophée Mer et Montagne' (Sea and Montain Trophy) in the French Alps. The formula of this event is unique: Put together a sailor, a skier and a child for 4 days of alpine activities results in an interesting story! For 15 years, this trophy gathers together the best french names of skiing, freeriding, climbing, offshore sailing, windsurfing, Olympic sailing... Vendée Globe skippers were also in top form as they threatened the leaders: Armel Le Cleac'h and Nicolas Mugnier finished third and Sébastien and his team mate Leila Piccard were fighting for third position until the last minute but had to settle for 4th. Franck Piccard, winner of the Trophy in 2007, and Thierry Dubois, winner in 2008 won again this year! Not far behind, Antoine Carpentier, Daniel Dulac and Philippine took 2nd place.
